I got a text from an unknown number on Thursday. It was urgent. It was from a groomsman in a wedding happening in a couple days. A wedding I was not scheduled to photograph, a couple I did not know. Randon and Chanda were getting married on Saturday and their photographer had just backed out and offered no replacement or help whatsoever. It was a nightmare scenario. My name had come up as a referral along the way in the couple’s search and I am so grateful it did. I just happen to be available that Saturday last fall to step in at the very, very, last minute! I do not know who the original photographer was that backed. Over the years I have taken over weddings for other photographers for various reasons but never with only a couples of days notice.
My gear was ready and I have been photographing weddings for many (many) years now so it is virtually impossible to rattle me anymore. I showed up and got to work capturing the beautiful people in front of me. When I arrived at the horse ranch property in north Scottsdale I was greeted like family. The couple and all of their friends and family were so kind and happy to have a photographer show up! It was a blue sky day on the large property and ended in a classic golden sunset. Guests had flown in from across the country and everyone there was ready for a good time.
